All 4 resorts are open!
The last week has brought some massive snowfall to Niseko! Hokkaido’s perfect weather phenomenon has taken full effect this week. The cold winds in the north travel from Siberia, pick up moisture from the Sea of Japan, and dump perfect powder on Niseko’s slopes. Those who have been lucky enough to be in Niseko during the past week have had light and dry powder to ski and ride, with almost no crowds in the resort. This is a big advantage of coming to Niseko in December.
Niseko Grand Hirafu Resort – December 8th, 2019
This big snowstorm has provided a solid base for the resorts to groom and open up courses all around the mountain. Hanazono resort opened up on December 7th with deep powder conditions, and this marks the day that all 4 resorts of Niseko United are officially open! Please have in mind that early season conditions still exist, and choose to ski and snowboard safely. A large portion of groomed runs and lifts are now open, however Niseko United’s terrain in not 100% open yet.
Niseko Hanazono Resort – December 7th, 2019
The backcountry gates are not open yet, as there needs to be a bigger base of snow to safely open up the terrain. Ski patrol is always monitoring the mountain’s conditions, and they will determine when it is safe to open the backcountry gates as it snows more. The good news is more snow is in the forecast, so conditions on the mountain will continue to improve as the holiday season approaches. See you on the slopes!
