Niseko United stays open into early May, but after March the resort typically shifts into a quieter shoulder season.
This year that is all set to change with the arrival of Swatch Nines at Niseko Tokyu Grand HIRAFU from 6–11 April 2026, including a Public Day on 11 April.
Swatch Nines Snow brings together top international skiers and snowboarders to ride a one-of-a-kind, custom-built snow park designed purely for aerial creativity and progression.
While it’s one of the most anticipated snow events in the world, it’s not a competition – just world-class athletes pushing limits and redefining what’s possible on snow.
Expect incredible features, iconic moments, and an atmosphere that blends sport, art, and culture.

When it lands in Niseko, it will be the first time the Swiss-born event is held in Asia, and it’s expected to bring the resort’s shoulder season to life
Even if you’re not riding the event terrain, the energy on the mountain will be impossible to miss.
For Niseko, it’s bigger than a single event – it means that April is becoming a thing.

If you don’t need waist-deep powder, April is quietly one of Niseko’s best-kept secrets: warmer weather, blue skies, and a slower-paced resort experience.
It’s ideal for cruising the slopes, taking photos, or dialling in technique in mellow conditions. With fewer crowds than peak winter, you’ll find more space on the runs — especially for families, groups, and solo travellers.
Spring in Niseko also means better prices across the resort. Lift tickets, accommodation and other services often come with special offers and discounted rates, making April one of the most cost-effective times to visit.
Then Swatch Nines drops into the middle and gives April a pulse: event-week buzz, pro athletes, and a reason to be in Niseko when you normally wouldn’t.

Add a “Spring Skiing + Swatch Nines” holiday to your calendar this year.
Build your trip around 6–11 April, lock in 11 April if you want the public-day atmosphere, and use the rest of the month for quiet spring laps and better-value stays.
