January events in Niseko

After the excitement of Christmas and New Year and a busy December, things quieten down a bit in January (off the mountain at least!). There’s still a few great events coming up through the month, so here’s a selection of what’s on. Australian Chamber Orchestra

As part of the Niseko Music Festival, Richard Tognetti and members of the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) will return to Niseko for two special performances. The ACO is one of the world’s most acclaimed chamber orchestras and members of the ACO have performed in Niseko every January for the last three years. This year they are performing in a family-friendly event at Tanta-An, Grand Hirafu Mountain Centre on January 23, and an exclusive adults-only event at The Orchards, which will include a cocktail and canapes reception, on January 25. Grand Hirafu Early Morning

From 7 – 31 January you can have early access to the slopes of Grand Hirafu. Early Morning tickets are ¥500 and will allow you to ride the Ace Quad Lift #2 (Centre 4) from 8:00-8:20am, giving you first dibs on the fresh powder on the Super, Furiko, Green, Alpen and Sennoki courses. Niseko Ice Village

The Niseko Ice Village is back again for 2019. Located at the Saison Club, on the way to the Annupuri Ski Area, the Ice Village will feature an ice bar, chillout lounge & bar, snow playground, restaurant and a yoga studio. The pre-opening period, while elements are still under construction, started on 4 January with the grand opening of the village on 14 January. FIS Japan Slopestyle Open Hanazono Cup

The Hanazono Park will host this big event at the end of this month on January 26 – 27. The comp will attract some of the best slopestyle riders from across Asia and around the world. Even athletes who will be competing in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics will be competing! The competition will close the Hanazono Park to the public but the run next to the course will remain open so spectators can get an awesome view of the amazing tricks being thrown down directly from the slopes.
