Shintaro Kawauchi, originally from Osaka, is a ski instructor at Niseko International Snowsports School (NISS ). This is his 18th season as an instructor, and his 14th season at Niseko Hanazono Resort.
Niseko Hanazono Resort has several forests in the resort you can ski through. For example, Strawberry Fields, Blueberry, Blackberry, Watermelon and more.
Stairway To Heaven is my favorite ski course. The steepness is good, it’s an open course with a good access to the side. My favorite off-piste course would be the Blueberry.
Hana 1 Chairlift would be my favorite. It’s the strongest chair in Hanazono!
Hanazono has twelve official slopes, but there are a lot secret paths, or “ura michi” in Japanese. Make your own “ura HANO” or “secret path map of Hanazono” and enjoy!
Hanazono is actually not just for winter, but their green season is also super beautiful. Please enjoy the nature of the four great seasons of Hokkaido.
Sprout Café at Hanazono 308 is a great place to grab snacks. The coffee is nice, has great snacks and tasty bread, and the people there are awesome. For lunch, I recommend Hanazono EDGE. The location is good, it has a lot of menus and the meals there are tasty.
When I get a day off on a nice day, I’m looking forward to going skiing with my kids. When I was young, I couldn’t go skiing often, but here, I can ski almost every day! Being here in Niseko is a dream come true for me.
