If you’ve never been to the snow the thought of learning to ski can be daunting. The good news is that Niseko is one of the world’s most beginner-friendly places to learn!
First and foremost – the snow is soooooft! Niseko is famous for getting more snow than anywhere else in the world. It often snows almost every day, so Niseko’s soft fluffy powder is the perfect crash pad for first timer falls! Lots of other resorts around the world only get snow every few days or weeks, so the snow quickly turns to ice. Very rarely does that happen in Niseko!
Second, Niseko has spent the past 10 years building beginner facilities. Each of the four Niseko United resorts (Niseko Hanazono, Niseko Grand Hirafu, Niseko Village and Niseko Annupuri) has dedicated beginner areas, with gentle slopes and slower, easier chairlifts, including magic carpets – conveyor belt-style lifts ideal for newby skiers and boarders. Hanazono and Hirafu each have three magic carpets which are also available to experienced riders a little worn out after a long day on the mountain. Niseko Village has also added two magic carpets in recent years and Annupuri has one, more suited to smaller children and absolute beginners.
All resorts have their own excellent ski schools with world-class international instructors and excellent additional facilities. There are lessons to suit all ages and abilities – from kids to adults, absolute beginners to seasoned pro, private and group – you’re sure to find exactly what you need. Just make sure to check language requirements as some of the schools only offer English-speaking instructors for private lessons.
So, now you know that Niseko is the perfect place to learn to ski or board, check out the links below to find the perfect snow school for you and your crew!
