Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu Resort has announced a new initiative titled “Value up NISEKO road to 2030”. Coinciding with the shinkansen (bullet train) slated to complete in Kutchan town in 2030, this initiative aims to make Niseko more attractive to visitors during all seasons. The most exciting news so far? The brand new 10-person gondola that’s scheduled to be finished in Grand Hirafu resort in time for the 2024/25 winter season!
The new gondola will replace the existing Ace 2 Quad Center Four. The transport capacity will greatly be improved from 1,800 people per hour to 2,800 per hour. This will immediately improve lift lines at the base during those famous deep powder mornings! The gondola will also be open for sightseeing, and non-skiers will be able to enjoy views of Mount Yotei and the surrounding resort. The announcement from Tokyu also noted the addition of new mid-station facilities and an après ski spot.
Niseko’s summer months are an integral part of this upgrade as well. The new gondola will be fitted with bike racks to support the development of the quickly-growing mountain bike scene in Niseko. MTB trails are being constructed on and off-resort to support Niseko’s all-season development.
Please stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development! And if you’re coming to Niseko this season or winter 2023/24, enjoy your last rides on the beloved “Center Four!”
