Niseko is the perfect family ski holiday destination, and there are so many reasons why! Traveling families from all over the world continue to visit Niseko during winter because of this. Moreover, The Ski Asia Awards have awarded Niseko United the title of Japan’s Best Family Ski Resort!
“Niseko has loads of stuff for kids to do, both on and off the slopes, including several highly regarded international ski schools offering specialized group and private lessons.” – Ski Asia Awards
This is likely the most important piece to a successful family ski holiday, and Niseko has your family covered! Niseko boasts an incredibly high level of ski schools and ski instructors due to the international community. Ski and snowboard lessons are available in English, as well as Japanese, Chinese, and various languages around the world because of the international instructors who move to Niseko each winter. Want to ski as a family? Private lessons are available that let you all enjoy the best spots on the mountain together. Or if you would rather drop the kids off at ski school in the morning and get your share of the famous Niseko powder, know that your children are in good hands with passionate and dedicated instructors. There are many ski schools in the Niseko area, but here are our favorites:
NISS: Niseko International Snowsports School
Niseko Grand HIRAFU Snow School
Niseko Annupuri Ski Snowboard School
A well-rounded family ski holiday isn’t just about skiing. Kids want to try new things and explore their surroundings apart from the ski slopes. A throng of off-hill activities is what separates Niseko from the rest! Families can choose from snowmobiling and snowshoeing, to unique experiences such as reindeer sledding! Need a break from the cold? Visit Niseko Alpen Hotel’s pool for a fun swim or a dip in the hot tub to thaw out. You can even go ice fishing or horseback riding in the snow! Read our article on What to do in Niseko when you’re not skiing to learn more.
Niseko’s plan is to continue to develop as an all-season family resort, so you’ll find services and facilities here unique to any other resort in Japan. Have fun by playing in Niseko’s snow at the Niseko Grand Hirafu Kids Park complete with snow tubing and snow biking. Niseko also has daycare centers at the base of each resort to look after your young ones while you are off enjoying the ski resort. Snow rafting is available at multiple resort bases, and the Niseko Adventure Center (NAC) houses a Kid’s Garden with jungle gyms and ball pits!
